Role Overview

The Assistant Financial Controller will oversee controllership responsibilities for selected OpenText EMEA entities. This key position supports the global finance team by ensuring proper US GAAP and local GAAP financial reporting, managing monthly close processes, statutory audits, and regional compliance. Additionally, the role contributes to acquisition integration and finance transformation projects. This is a fixed-term role for 12 months, with potential extension.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct monthly analytical reviews relating to the US GAAP close and period-end financial results.
• Address management queries concerning balance sheet and profit & loss activities.
• Review and validate account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.
• Prepare local GAAP financial statements and document country-specific GAAP adjustments.
• Provide schedules and assistance during statutory audits.
• Engage in post-acquisition financial integration and system migration activities.
• Collaborate with tax and legal teams on entity restructuring and step plan initiatives.
• Support general ledger migrations and associated technical tasks.
• Assist in tax compliance by preparing tax provision documentation.
• Respond to commodity, income, and VAT audit inquiries as needed.
• Serve as a regional finance contact for relevant financial matters.
• Work closely with corporate accounting teams to resolve technical issues and ensure process effectiveness.
• Contribute to broader finance transformation and continuous improvement projects.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of 5 years in finance or accounting roles, ideally within a technology sector.
• Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP and local GAAP standards.
• Experience managing controllership duties, statutory reporting, and audit processes.
• Understanding of European VAT regulations is a significant advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the ability to handle extensive datasets.
• Excellent organizational and teamwork capabilities, with an aptitude for multitasking independently.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills; additional language skills are highly valued.
• Familiarity with SAP and NetSuite accounting systems is beneficial.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related fields preferred.
• Professional accounting certifications such as CA, CMA, or ACCA are advantageous.
