Role Overview
The Assistant Daycare Caregiver position is a full-time, on-site role based in Accra. The individual in this role aids lead teachers and caregivers with supervising children, engaging them in age-appropriate learning and play activities, and ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with feeding, diapering, and toileting routines.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of classroom and play areas.
- Prepare materials necessary for lessons and games.
- Communicate regularly with team members to coordinate care and activities.
- Adhere strictly to established childcare policies and routines.
- Contribute to creating a warm, inclusive environment that respects each child’s unique needs.
- Support drop-off and pick-up procedures as required.
- Observe and report on children’s behavior, sharing relevant updates with teaching staff.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven ability to provide attentive, compassionate care to infants and young children, including feeding, hygiene assistance, and comfort.
- Experience engaging children through play, storytelling, early learning activities, and positive behavior management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and communicate respectfully with families.
- Reliability, patience, and capacity to remain calm and organized in a dynamic childcare setting.
- Basic understanding of child development or early childhood education, with formal training considered a plus.
- Prior experience in daycare, preschool, or caregiving environments preferred but not mandatory.
- Capability to follow health, safety, and cleanliness protocols, including helping with lifting young children.
- At least a high school diploma or equivalent; certifications in childcare, first aid, or CPR are advantageous.
