Role Overview

As an Animal Care Attendant (ACA), you will play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing of animals in the care facility. You will enrich their environment, help maintain cleanliness and hygiene, assist with health-related tasks, and collaborate closely with team members to provide the best possible care. You will also interact with clients, supporting seamless service and contributing to community outreach and fundraising efforts.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care and enrichment activities for animals, including feeding, exercise, play, and engagement that stimulate their wellbeing.
• Maintain a clean and healthy environment by conducting routine housekeeping, disinfection, laundry, and kennel cleaning duties.
• Support animal health by administering supervised vaccinations, grooming, bathing, and consulting Registered Veterinary Technicians as needed.
• Keep accurate client and animal records, report health concerns promptly to supervisors, and assist with transferring animals to veterinary clinics.
• Participate actively in organizational culture through promotion on social media and involvement in fundraising initiatives.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Strong communication skills and a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
• Capacity to lift up to 18 kg (40 lbs) and control animals up to 45 kg (100 lbs).
• Possession of a valid G driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
• Availability for shifts including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
• Clerical training and customer service experience are advantageous.
• Certificate or College Diploma in Animal Care or progress toward such credential is preferred.
