Overview
ASB Bank is seeking an Analytics Engineer to join its Data Engineering Chapter within the Customer Tribe in Albany, Auckland. The role sits at the centre of business and technology, helping turn customer data into reliable, scalable data products that support insights, reporting, and better decision-making across the bank.
You will work in a high-performing data team and collaborate with stakeholders to convert complex requirements into practical data solutions. The focus is on shaping customer data models, strengthening data pipelines, and ensuring the outputs are trustworthy, secure, and ready to support ASB’s strategic priorities.
What you will do
- Work with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical data solutions.
- Build, develop, and maintain data models and transformations that support customer-domain data products.
- Create and improve data pipelines using Snowflake, dbt, and related tools.
- Embed data quality, governance, reliability, and security practices into delivered solutions.
- Partner with Data Engineers, Analysts, Product Owners, and business teams to produce data-driven outcomes.
- Support analytics initiatives that help improve customer experience and business performance.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in data engineering methods, tooling, and standards.
What you will bring
- 3–5 years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or another data-focused role.
- Strong knowledge of data modelling, data transformation, ETL/ELT workflows, and data integration concepts.
- Practical experience with Snowflake, dbt, and modern cloud data platforms.
- Advanced SQL skills and a solid grasp of data warehousing principles.
- Ability to turn complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Sound analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Exposure to banking, financial services, or other large enterprise environments.
- Understanding of customer data domains, customer analytics, or customer journey mapping.
- Familiarity with operational data products and modern data product practices.
