Aircraft Technician Avionics

Role Overview

As an Aircraft Technician Avionics, your main responsibility will be to conduct maintenance and repairs on advanced electronic systems and onboard avionics to ensure aircraft remain operational and safe to fly.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide pilots with real-time access to critical battle-space data and enable sharing of sensor and actionable intelligence.
• Maintain and optimize the performance of radar, communication, reconnaissance, and target acquisition systems on aircraft.
• Conduct repairs on onboard equipment responsible for weapon selection, arming, and release.
• Upkeep electrical generation and distribution systems used in aircraft.
• Offer engineering support for systems used during flight or assist when aircraft are deployed.
• Be prepared to travel internationally to offer on-site support for RAF aircraft and related equipment during operations and training exercises.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must be between 16 and 47 years old (must attest before turning 48).
• Minimum academic qualifications: GCSE's at grade C/4 or Scottish National 5's at grade C in English Language, Mathematics, and a Science or Technology subject.
• Must satisfy specific Nationality and Residency conditions (detailed in official Entry Requirements).
• Commitment to serve at least three years following specialist training completion.
• Successful completion of the Defence Aptitude Assessment.
• Passing a physical fitness test is required.
