Role Overview
The Accounting Operations Manager (AOM) will oversee full client service delivery, ensuring accurate financial management, leading the accounting team, and driving operational excellence. Responsibilities include managing month-end closes, reporting, audit and tax coordination, client interactions, and continual process enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the main contact for assigned clients, handling all forms of communication.
- Organize and conduct client meetings with clear agendas, updates, and action plans.
- Gain comprehensive insight into clients' businesses, priorities, and challenges through financial and business data review to align deliverables accordingly.
- Tailor reports, address ad hoc queries, resolve accounting issues, and professionally manage escalations.
- Maintain professional, clear, and timely written and verbal communication.
- Supervise and review month-end closings to guarantee accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Remain proficient with essential accounting functions such as accounts payable, receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll, tax filings, accruals, and journal entries to guide the team effectively.
- Analyze financial trends and variances, providing clients with actionable recommendations.
- Customize and verify financial reports, budgets, and forecasts according to client specifications.
- Manage forecasting tools to ensure report precision.
- Handle finalization and filing of 1099 forms, ensuring US GAAP and regulatory compliance.
- Review audit and tax preparation documentation prior to submission, coordinating with auditors to facilitate smooth audit processes.
- Track audit, tax, and fiscal close timelines to meet deadlines.
- Plan workload allocation based on capacity and skills, ensuring project deadlines are met.
- Supervise task monitoring, time management, efficiency, and budget adherence using specialized software.
- Provide mentorship, training, and regular performance feedback to team members, identifying and addressing skill gaps.
- Manage team escalations, leave schedules, and ensure proper backup during absences.
- Encourage trust-based delegation, emotional intelligence, and strong team communication.
- Assist in onboarding and training new senior staff members and fill in as needed for Senior Associates.
- Standardize and improve accounting processes to boost efficiency and quality, including finalizing standard operating procedures in coordination with US Engagement Managers.
- Oversee client onboarding, deployment of new applications, and project-based assignments.
- Ensure compliance with trackers, documentation protocols, and internal controls within the team.
- Utilize technology to optimize workflows, reporting, and communication.
- Collaborate with TAL, US stakeholders, and cross-functional teams for smooth service delivery.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and cooperative workplace culture.
- Adapt swiftly to evolving priorities and remote team dynamics.
- Demonstrate leadership by embodying company values such as transparency, collaboration, generosity, and self-discipline.
