About the Accounting Team
The Accounting department is crucial in supporting Decagon's rapid growth by ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting under U.S. GAAP. This team crafts scalable financial processes and maintains robust controls to facilitate expansion across various teams and locations. Collaborating closely with Sales, People, Legal, and Operations, the team oversees spend management, contract governance, and payroll operations to enable the company’s progressive milestones.
Role Overview
We seek a dynamic Finance Operations & Payroll Manager to lead the payroll, expense management, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions. You will develop efficient, scalable systems to maintain precise and compliant operations that align with our fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end global payroll processing ensuring accuracy and adherence to compliance, covering new hires, terminations, bonuses, and other variable pay components.
- Conduct payroll reconciliations, generate reports, support audits, and maintain detailed process documentation and internal controls.
- Oversee business travel and expense management including corporate card oversight, expense report review, policy enforcement, vendor coordination, accurate GL coding, timely reimbursements, and monthly T&E reporting with variance analysis.
- Supervise accounts payable and receivable processes ensuring correct coding, approvals, payment management, cash applications, and preparation of aging reports.
- Lead month-end closing activities related to payroll, accounts payable, and receivable, including accruals and reconciliation tasks.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with People and Finance teams to facilitate headcount growth and enhance automation and efficiency in all managed finance functions.
Experience and Skills Required
- Between 6 and 8 years of progressive payroll experience with sole responsibility for U.S. payroll.
- Proven expertise in administering multi-state U.S. payroll within high-growth or dynamic settings.
- Thorough understanding of payroll compliance, associated tax regulations, and mandatory reporting standards.
- Experience partnering effectively with HR/People and Finance departments.
- Exceptional attention to detail, capability to independently reconcile and address discrepancies.
- Proactive and ownership-focused mindset thriving in a startup’s fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in hyper-growth companies.
- Some familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and business travel and expense management.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary for this position ranges from $160,000 to $200,000 annually plus equity.
