Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and secure approval for academic programs in adherence with NZQA and NZQF standards.
  • Coordinate and manage NZQA approval and accreditation application processes, collaborating with various stakeholders.
  • Advise on academic qualification design, including graduate profiles, curriculum development, credit distribution, and learning outcomes.
  • Participate in major institutional projects such as curriculum creation, student information systems, compliance frameworks, website enhancements, and operational preparations.
  • Support the implementation of academic governance, policy formation, procedural guidelines, and quality assurance for NZ operations.
  • Serve as the academic lead for teaching delivery, faculty onboarding, addressing academic escalations, managing student interventions, and handling complaints and misconduct issues.
  • Forge and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external partners, including NZQA, industry experts, academic leads, and operational staff.
  • Drive excellence in teaching, learning, and student success through faculty development programs, academic involvement initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Possess a postgraduate degree (master’s or above) in a pertinent discipline.
  • Extensive experience in New Zealand's tertiary education sector, familiar with academic administration and quality control systems.
  • Proven track record in preparing and managing NZQA program accreditation and approval documentation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the NZ Qualifications Framework, NZQA quality standards, and the Education and Training Act 2020.
  • Experience with Private Training Establishment registrations, accreditations, external evaluations, or compliance assessments.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, multi-functional projects and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, principles of equity, and culturally responsive educational approaches.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication, project management, report-writing, and the ability to thrive in fast-growing environments.

Additional Information

  • The position provides 26 days annual leave, which includes an additional day off for your birthday.
  • The role reports to the NZ Country Director and KBS Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning).
  • Kaplan conducts thorough background checks relevant to the role, including identity, work rights, criminal records, qualifications, and working with children clearances if applicable.
  • Applications close on 24 August 2026.
