Role overview

As a Channel Scheduling Specialist - Retail, you will support the delivery of a smooth omni-channel customer experience by keeping frontline retail teams scheduled effectively and ready to perform. Working alongside the Senior Scheduling Specialist, you will coordinate daily rostering across touch, talk, and type channels, ensuring schedules are accurate, compliant, and aligned with customer demand, store trading patterns, and business priorities.

This role suits someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and genuinely interested in making processes better. You will help strengthen right-first-time capability across retail, support multi-skilled teams, and look for ways to simplify or automate scheduling tasks so the function becomes more efficient and responsive for both employees and customers.

What you will do

  • Keep workforce schedules updated in line with weekly and daily operational needs, while meeting NZ employment law requirements and internal policies.
  • Triage and prioritise work arriving through shared inboxes and team email channels to maintain scheduling flow.
  • Spot and support improvements that make scheduling faster, smoother, and more productive.
  • Prepare and share regular reports for business stakeholders covering workforce utilisation, schedule adherence, overtime, and absenteeism.
  • Communicate clear and practical schedules to frontline teams with as much notice as possible.

What you will bring

  • Hands-on experience in workforce scheduling or workforce management within retail or a customer-facing setting.
  • Strong capability in problem-solving, organising work, and communicating clearly.
  • Ability to interpret data and use it to make sound scheduling decisions.
  • Experience working in busy, high-volume environments where priorities change often.
  • Working knowledge of NZ labour legislation and retail compliance requirements.
  • A strong focus on accuracy, efficiency, and ongoing improvement.

Benefits

  • Flexibility in many roles to work from home and adjust hours to better balance work and whānau commitments.
  • Fully subsidised Southern Cross health insurance for you and your family.
  • Lifestyle leave, with the option to buy an extra one or two weeks of annual leave.
  • Discounts on One New Zealand products, services, and more.
