About the Role
Join a renowned New Zealand building products company as a Warehouse Supervisor in a brand-new, modern facility located in Tauriko, Tauranga. Reporting to the Distribution Centre Operations Manager, you will lead a dedicated team of approximately 11 staff, including a second-in-command and warehouse operators. Your core duties include managing dispatch processes, resource allocation, ensuring inventory accuracy, fostering a safe working environment, and consistently meeting service targets. This afternoon shift role runs Monday to Friday from 1pm to 9pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire the distribution team to meet operational goals and maintain high customer service standards.
- Champion safety culture by ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental protocols.
- Oversee inventory accuracy and assist with routine stocktakes.
- Guarantee accurate and quality dispatch of products.
- Engage directly with warehouse staff in job planning, coaching, and training activities.
- Implement continuous improvements in safety, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
Measures of Success
- Consistent strong performance in safety and proactive hazard management.
- High accuracy levels in inventory management.
- Achieving customer delivery targets including In Full, On Time, In Spec (IFOTIS).
- Enhanced truck turnaround time and dispatch efficiency.
- Maintaining high employee engagement and team effectiveness.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated leadership experience in warehouse, distribution, or logistics settings.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in large-scale distribution or logistics operations.
- Forklift license valid for counterbalance and reach trucks is preferred.
- Deep understanding of warehouse operations and inventory control.
- Strong communication, planning, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Resilient and proactive leadership approach with a focus on team development.
- Experience with mechanical handling equipment and knowledge of hazardous goods protocols is an advantage.
