About The Role

We seek a highly skilled journalist experienced in video production and storytelling, with a passion for probing deep into news stories and long-term projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Initiate and pursue impactful video-led investigative stories.
• Propose newsworthy topics and enterprise coverage ideas.
• Manage end-to-end video production activities including research, reporting, scripting, and producing across varying formats.
• Conduct field reports from diverse settings such as protests, crime scenes, and conflict zones.
• Employ traditional journalistic practices like developing sources and analyzing documents and datasets.
• Collaborate effectively with video editors, motion graphics artists, fellow Visual Investigations reporters, and newsroom teams.
• Support and embody the company's dedication to journalistic independence and truth-seeking.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years’ experience in digital or broadcast journalism.
• Proven expertise in all facets of video journalism including pitching, scripting, reporting, producing, and post-production.
• Ability to deliver under tight deadlines while working within fast-paced and dynamic news cycles.
• In-depth knowledge of current events, both domestic and international.
• Demonstrable experience producing exclusive and accountability-focused stories.
• Strong editorial judgment and communication skills, with an aptitude for teamwork.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in visual verification techniques such as analyzing user-generated content, utilizing Google Earth Pro, satellite imagery, or tracking technology.
• Foreign language proficiency.
• Understanding of legal and ethical standards regarding third-party visuals.
• Willingness to travel on short notice and availability to work occasional evenings or weekends.

Work Environment

This position is primarily office-based at the New York City location, requiring regular in-office presence four days per week, with some remote work possible as per department guidelines.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary ranges approximately between $113,271 and $145,000 USD, with eligibility for bonuses and stock options for U.S. based roles.
