About the Role
An established manufacturing company is looking for a seasoned Vice President of Operations to lead comprehensive manufacturing, supply chain, production, and operational functions from their facility in Belton, Texas, near Temple. This executive position suits a proactive leader with proven success in enhancing throughput, refining processes, fostering strong teams, and achieving profitable growth in a fast-paced production environment.
Reporting to the CEO, this role commands full operational and profit & loss accountability. Responsibilities encompass end-to-end manufacturing processes, including production planning, procurement, purchasing, warehousing, logistics, quality assurance, warranty management, and continuous improvement initiatives, all while scaling operations efficiently and maintaining top quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily manufacturing and assembly operations, warehouse, logistics, purchasing, quality control, and warranty management.
- Ensure optimal operational metrics such as labor efficiency, throughput, product quality, productivity, and profitability.
- Develop scalable production systems to support the company's growth trajectory.
- Align production schedules with labor, equipment, and materials to maximize efficiency.
- Drive LEAN methodologies organization-wide to identify waste reduction, eliminate bottlenecks, and optimize workflows.
- Standardize processes for greater consistency, quality, and increased output.
- Promote a culture emphasizing accountability, continuous process improvements, and operational excellence.
- Oversee procurement, inventory, warehouse, and logistics, maintaining material flow and supplier relationships to avoid production interruptions.
- Collaborate across teams to proactively address supply chain risks and production constraints.
- Lead optimization of Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP/MRP systems to enhance production scheduling, inventory tracking, purchasing automation, labor management, and operational reporting.
- Leverage data analytics for informed business decisions and adopt technology that enhances operational visibility.
- Implement quality management systems throughout production, set quality checkpoints to reduce defects and warranty claims, and establish KPIs to drive continuous improvements.
- Guide, mentor, and develop managers in production, supply chain, purchasing, warehouse, logistics, and quality assurance with structured training and succession plans.
- Build a high-performing, accountable, engaged workforce aligned with long-term business goals.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 5 years of senior executive experience in manufacturing operations leadership.
- Background managing high-volume industrial manufacturing, complex assembly, or vehicle manufacturing.
- Experience with full P&L responsibility in manufacturing environments.
- Strong expertise in LEAN manufacturing practices and continuous improvement strategies.
- Proficiency in leading production planning, scheduling, purchasing, supply chain, warehouse, logistics, and quality teams.
- Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP system implementation or optimization, especially Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing financials, labor productivity, key operational metrics, and cost control.
- Proven track record building and guiding cross-functional teams at a high performance level.
- Exceptional executive communication skills for effective leadership both on the shop floor and boardroom.
- Strong skills in data analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Preferred Background
- Experience in high-volume vehicle manufacturing, specialized vehicle or complex assembly operations, industrial manufacturing, transportation equipment, heavy equipment manufacturing, configure-to-order, or engineered products manufacturing is highly desirable.
- Senior plant managers, directors of operations, site leaders, or manufacturing executives with enterprise-wide responsibility are also encouraged to apply.
