Job Overview
An opportunity exists for a Teradata DBA Administrator & Hardware Support Engineer based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This role is a fixed-term contract of 12 months, targeting mid-senior professionals possessing between 5 and 10 years of experience. The selected candidate will assume full responsibility for administration, monitoring, performance tuning, maintenance, and providing Level 2 and Level 3 support for the Teradata Vantage environment.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and manage Teradata Vantage versions 16 and 17 within IntelliFlex and VMware setups.
- Oversee and support components such as Viewpoint, QueryGrid, Data Mover, Business Continuity Manager (BCM), and Data Stream Utility.
- Continuously monitor system health, query performance, and resource utilization leveraging Teradata Viewpoint.
- Conduct performance optimization efforts including fine-tuning queries and managing workload using TASM.
- Administer backup, recovery, and disaster recovery tasks utilizing Data Stream Utility and BCM.
- Handle data migration, replication, and refresh processes through Data Mover.
- Set up and maintain QueryGrid configurations to facilitate cross-platform data access.
- Manage database security by controlling user accounts, roles, and permissions.
- Perform software patching, upgrade cycles, and upkeep platform integrity, ensuring ecosystem-wide compatibility.
- Deliver L2 and L3 support within both production and non-production environments, troubleshooting infrastructure, platform, and database-related issues.
Required Skills and Experience
- Between 5 to 10 years of practical DBA and platform administration experience specifically with Teradata systems.
- Proven expertise with Teradata Vantage 16 and 17 editions.
- Hands-on familiarity with Teradata Viewpoint, QueryGrid, Data Mover, BCM, and Data Stream Utility tools.
- Experience administering IntelliFlex and VMware environments.
- Advanced SQL knowledge alongside performance tuning and workload management using TASM.
- Working knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems and proficiency with shell scripting.
- Understanding of RESTful APIs, CLIv2 commands, and data integration techniques.
- Capability to support enterprise-level production environments and effectively resolve complex database and infrastructure challenges.
