About the Role
As Technology Director at So Energy, based in Chiswick, London, you will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team reporting directly to the CEO. Your mission will be to translate the company's business strategy into a robust technology, product, data, and AI capability. You will spearhead the development of a product and technology division focused on enhancing customer experience, reducing service costs, advancing data-driven decision-making, and ensuring the responsible, secure application of AI throughout the company, with a balance of innovation, speed, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technology, product, data, and AI strategy aligned with So Energy’s business objectives and develop a clear roadmap.
- Manage the technology profit and loss, sizing the function according to business needs, maintaining disciplined spending, and continuously reducing cost to serve.
- Integrate engineering, product, IT, and data teams under a unified delivery framework to eliminate overlap and drive accountability.
- Ensure platform reliability, security, and delivery against defined KPIs, while adhering to regulatory and governance requirements.
- Establish and maintain safe, effective AI usage standards across the organization.
- Build, lead, and retain a high-caliber technology leadership team across product, engineering, data, security, and AI disciplines to support the company’s growth trajectory.
- Oversee supplier and partner relationships, particularly with cloud service providers, to ensure competitive commercial terms and satisfactory delivery.
- Represent the technology function within the senior leadership team and collaborate with peers to drive business and customer outcomes.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience building diverse, multi-disciplinary, customer-centric high-performance teams.
- Strong leader who embodies and models company values and behaviors.
- Skilled in guiding teams through organizational changes and adoption of new operating models.
- Proven ability to deliver services reliably, measured against industry benchmarks.
- Solid experience in senior stakeholder management and governance, security, and compliance within leadership roles.
- Background in energy, utilities, regulated services, fintech, telecoms, or other B2C industries with critical emphasis on reliability, compliance, and cost-efficiency.
- Desirable: Experience in people strategy, talent management, performance development, and supporting team wellbeing as part of organizational goals.
