About the Role

Vena Energy is inviting applications for a diligent and safety-focused Technician or Trades Assistant to be part of our diverse operations and maintenance team based on-site at Tailem Bend, South Australia. The responsibilities will be tailored to your expertise and trade background, aimed at supporting the safe, efficient, and compliant running of the site while fostering an inclusive and respectful team atmosphere.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help develop, review, and update check sheets and inspection documentation for equipment such as structures, low voltage plants, civil, mechanical, and facility assets.
  • Contribute to creating and revising plans and procedures, for example, vegetation maintenance plans.
  • Conduct basic equipment and machinery inspections and repairs on-site.
  • Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on plant and equipment following OEM guidelines or approved protocols.
  • Manage vegetation and general groundskeeping tasks.
  • Perform general upkeep such as cleaning, housekeeping, and managing inventory.
  • Participate in medium and high voltage switching activities as allowed by training and competency.
  • Execute maintenance tasks per preventative schedules in line with management plans, manuals, and legislation.
  • Perform stock control and audit spare parts, ensuring availability and proper storage.
  • Assist in achieving operational performance and health, safety, security, and environment (HSSE) targets in the Tailem Bend O&M team within competency limits.
  • Respond to incidents, outages, and emergencies within the scope of training and qualifications.
  • Maintain records, check sheets, and complete necessary reporting.
  • Support the implementation of the Integrated Management System (IMS) at the site.
  • Help develop and review HSSE documentation, including risk registers, safe work method statements, procedures, permits, and audit reports.
  • Engage in HSSE workshops, inspections, audits, and investigations.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Completion of Year 10 schooling minimum.
  • Mechanical aptitude with capability to service and repair plant and machinery.
  • Proficient in using power and hand tools.
  • Proven teamwork skills.
  • Strong safety mindset and commitment to safe work procedures.
  • Ability to independently manage work assignments efficiently.
  • Good situational awareness in changing environments.
  • Experience interacting with local communities or stakeholders is valued.
  • Possession of a valid Class C Manual Driver’s Licence.

  • Trade qualification or skilled profession experience.
  • At least one year’s experience on operational solar assets or related industry work.
  • Familiarity with HSSE systems and practices.
  • Understanding of corporate HSSE and quality management frameworks.
  • Knowledge of environmental and Landcare legislative requirements.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Forklift licence and operational experience.
  • Valid Agricultural Chemical Distribution Control (ACDC) Licence.
  • Unrestricted work authorization in Australia.
