Technician, General Facilities Maintenance

Position summary

Walmart is seeking a General Maintenance Technician to help keep store operations running smoothly by troubleshooting equipment, carrying out repairs, and handling preventive maintenance across commercial systems used in the store. The role also includes building preventive maintenance plans, finishing assigned PM tasks on schedule, and training store associates on how to care for and clean equipment properly.

Key duties

• Carry out minor repairs on facilities, equipment, and fixtures, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material-handling equipment, and food-service equipment.
• Complete routine upkeep tasks to support safe operation and reliable performance.
• Track work orders and maintenance schedules, and submit the required paper and electronic records such as expense reports, weekly recaps, work orders, and maintenance logs.

Minimum qualifications

• At least 3 years of maintenance experience.
• A valid state driver’s license held for 3 years or more, with a clean driving record and the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check.
• Eligibility for a Commercial Driver’s License.

Preferred qualifications

• Completion of vocational or technical training, ideally a 2-year trade program.
• Licensure in a related trade in the city and/or state where the job is located.
• Intermediate skills in word processing, spreadsheets, email, and presentation tools such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Compensation and benefits

The position offers an hourly wage of $19.00 to $35.00. Depending on schedule, facility, season, or specific duties, additional premiums may apply in amounts from $0.35 to $3.00 per hour, and multiple premiums may be paid if the criteria are met. A $2,000 sign-on bonus is included.
