About BlueScope

BlueScope is an Australian-founded global business operating across 15 countries. With a workforce of more than 16,500 people, the company focuses on safety, performance, and wellbeing while turning steel into intelligent products and solutions that support communities now and into the future. Its well-known brands, including COLORBOND steel, are used in everything from hospitals and bridges to stadiums.

The Opportunity

BlueScope Building Components is hiring for multiple Team Member positions at its Novar Gardens production site. The business, part of BlueScope in Australia, produces and sells steel building products, solutions, and services through brands such as Lysaght, Fielders, and Ranbuild.

Previous experience in manufacturing or operations is not required. Full on-the-job training and continuing support are provided to help you build a lasting career.

The company welcomes applicants from varied backgrounds and experiences, and is committed to an inclusive workplace where people feel respected and able to be themselves. Flexible working options are supported through the B-flex program where operationally practical. Women are strongly encouraged to apply.

What You’ll Receive

These are permanent, full-time roles with pay starting at $1,061.72 per week and increasing to $1,124.80 per week based on skills and experience. In addition, you may be eligible for overtime, public holiday pay, and a quarterly bonus.

The site operates around the clock, five days per week, with opportunities on day, afternoon, and night shifts. Afternoon shift includes a 15% shift loading, while night shift includes a 30% shift loading.

Shift timings are:

  • Day shift: 6:30 am to 2:30 pm
  • Afternoon shift: 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm
  • Night shift: 10:30 pm to 6:30 am, starting on Sunday evenings

Role Overview

You will be part of a team manufacturing high-quality steel products, with strong emphasis on safety and precision so that quality is delivered on time, every time.

Your work may involve:

  • Helping maintain a safe workplace
  • Operating machinery used in production and processing
  • Using equipment such as forklifts and cranes
  • Packing, strapping, and inspecting products for quality

This role includes manual handling and lifting. You will also work in a manufacturing environment where noise and seasonal temperature variations are part of the job. The company will provide the training, support, and equipment needed to work safely and effectively.

Who We’re Looking For

No prior manufacturing or operations background is necessary. The key requirement is a willingness to learn and contribute as part of a team. Ideal candidates will:

  • Always prioritise safety
  • Communicate well and work effectively with others
  • Be open to obtaining a forklift licence with support from the employer
  • Bring a positive, adaptable attitude toward shift work
  • Show respect for others and value diversity and inclusion
  • Enjoy working in a busy, fast-moving environment

Equal Opportunity Note

This role is being advertised as a special measure under section 65 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (SA) to promote substantive equality. Special measures are lawful steps taken to improve equality by removing barriers and addressing underrepresentation. Applications are welcome from all suitably qualified candidates, but preference will be given to suitably qualified female applicants due to the underrepresentation of women in this area and the company’s commitment to improving gender balance.

Recruitment Process

The selection process is intended to help candidates learn more about the company while allowing the team to get to know applicants. It includes:

  • Submitting an application
  • Completing an online assessment
  • Joining an online information session on Wednesday, 15 July 2026
  • Attending a face-to-face assessment centre and site tour on Tuesday, 21 July 2026 or Wednesday, 22 July 2026
  • Completing a pre-employment medical check, including a drug and alcohol screen, plus reference checks before starting, if selected

Candidates are asked to keep themselves available for the information session and assessment centre, as these are important parts of the process.

Additional Information

The company’s purpose is: “We create and inspire smart solutions in steel, to strengthen communities for the future.” Applications close on Wednesday, 8 July 2026.
