Job description
Position Overview
We are seeking a Team Leader for National Data Collection who will lead a group of Data Collection Specialists engaged in making and receiving calls to gather data from businesses and the public for national surveys. The focus is to deliver an excellent respondent experience that encourages trust, is convenient, secure, and acknowledges contributions to Aotearoa.
Key Responsibilities
You will oversee the daily management of the Data Collection team by motivating, guiding, and directing these frontline specialists to achieve optimal results for clients and suppliers. Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders responsible for survey planning, programmes, and training is essential. Staff rotate on a roster covering six operational days weekly, so availability to support the team, including evenings and weekends when necessary, is required.
Work Arrangement
This is a permanent position working remotely from home, requiring a dedicated workspace and reliable internet connection. Candidates must reside in Christchurch to regularly attend the office for training and team support.
Experience and Skills Required
- At least five years’ experience in a service delivery role.
- Familiarity with CRM systems, work allocation tools or concepts, telephony software such as Salesforce, PureCloud, and proficiency in Excel.
- Strong people skills and mature judgment to operate with autonomy and discretion.
- A passion for coaching and leading diverse, high-performing teams with proven leadership and training experience.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, negotiation, and reporting abilities.
- Customer-oriented mindset with connections to various social, cultural, and business communities.
- Builds and nurtures trusted relationships within local communities, businesses, and internal teams.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Knowledge or willingness to learn about Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Tikanga, Te Reo Māori, and local Iwi engagement.
- Preference for candidates skilled in mātauranga Māori and tikanga, with fluency or willingness to develop fluency in Te Reo Māori.
- Committed to ongoing learning and incorporating cultural capability into practice.

Salary
The starting salary range for this role is $84,027 to $98,855 plus KiwiSaver contributions.
