Role Overview

This position is suited to a capable and proactive Systems, Network & Security Administrator who enjoys working across multiple technologies and solving varied technical problems. You will help keep client environments secure, reliable, and well maintained through a mix of remote and on-site support. Some travel to customer locations may be necessary.

Core Duties

Support and administer Windows Server and/or Linux Server environments.
Look after Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity management systems.
Manage Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Conditional Access, and Intune.
Carry out patching, software updates, and backup administration.
Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot virtual environments such as VMware and Hyper-V.
Investigate and resolve capacity, performance, uptime, and reliability issues.
Oversee backup, recovery, and failover procedures.
Administer routers, switches, VLANs, and wireless access points.
Diagnose WAN/LAN problems and improve network efficiency.
Configure VPNs, network segmentation, and routing.
Set up and manage firewalls including Sophos, Fortinet, Cisco, and similar platforms.
Review firewall rules, access controls, and protection policies.
Track and respond to security warnings, threats, and vulnerabilities.
Assist with endpoint protection and email security tools.
Deploy and support desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile devices.
Handle application installations, updates, and licensing.
Provide Tier 2/3 support across multiple client environments.
Resolve hardware, software, and network faults.
Carry out hardware installations and migrations when required.
Take on issues that cannot be solved remotely.
Build positive working relationships with clients.

Experience and Skills Needed

At least 3 years of experience in a Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar position.
Strong working knowledge of Windows Server environments.
Good understanding of networking basics such as DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VLANs, and VPNs.
Practical experience with firewall platforms such as Sophos, Fortinet, and Cisco.
Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Azure services.
Exposure to virtualisation technologies.
Solid troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Ability to travel to client sites when needed.
Preferred certifications include Microsoft AZ-104, MS-102, or MD-102; CCNA or CCNP; Network+ or Security+; and Fortinet NSE or Sophos Certified.
