Position Overview

The Supply Planning Lead for the Vital Protein brand will be accountable for all facets of supply planning, ensuring product availability aligns with consumer demand across global markets. Responsibilities include developing and executing supply plans for finished goods, optimizing inventory and service levels, managing obsolete stock, and collaborating with factories and co-manufacturing partners to balance costs and agility. Key Duties

  • Oversee supply and production planning and co-manufacturing/co-packing requirements efficiently.
  • Create supply plans that optimize inventory, service levels, and total delivered cost within production constraints.
  • Manage short-term and long-term capacity plans (rolling 18 months), collaborating closely with factories to proactively resolve capacity risks.
  • Meet customer service and delivery targets while adhering to financial limits and strategic goals.
  • Balance supply requirements across multiple sourcing locations including factories and co-manufacturers.
  • Define and maintain SKU-level safety stock policies to meet service objectives while minimizing working capital impacts.
  • Monitor and manage aging or obsolete stock risks, coordinating with commercial teams for mitigation and prevention.
  • Manage salvage inventory opportunities and appropriate dwell time.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve inventory management processes and introduce innovative planning methods and tools.
  • Identify build-stock timing and needs based on production availability and strategic priorities, communicating with relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead regular cross-functional communication on product availability, highlighting risks, back-in-stock estimations, root causes, and preventive measures.
  • Present comprehensive supply outlooks, including days on hand, service levels, working capital projections, and factory performance across an 18-month horizon.
  • Provide supply forecasts and setups supporting innovation projects.
  • Gather inputs from other operations impacting supply outlooks.
  • Lead budget and target planning activities.
  • Optimize meetings to ensure alignment with manufacturing and operational teams.
  • Lead weekly and monthly production reviews with manufacturing partners.
  • Coordinate with QA teams to ensure timely product release and prioritization.
  • Manage transitions and communications during major sourcing changes.
  • Drive supply planning best practices across business units by leading functional meetings and sharing expertise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or significant relevant experience in supply planning.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Supply Chain roles.
  • Experience with SAP APO, OMP, or similar supply planning tools is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of foreign trade is a plus.
  • Preferred leadership experience in demand & supply planning, supply chain development, procurement, logistics, customer service, sales & marketing, or finance.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data trends and drive decisions.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills including formulas, data analysis, and modeling.

Compensation and Benefits

Estimated base salary range: $110,000 to $125,000 annually, subject to variation based on skills, experience, and location.
