About Community Corrections
Community Corrections is tasked with overseeing adults sentenced to community-based orders or those released on parole, with a core focus on ensuring community safety and lowering re-offense rates through facilitating positive behavioral changes in supervised individuals, enabling them to lead productive, crime-free lives.
Role Overview
The Supervisor will lead a small team of qualified staff who manage various offender cohorts. This role involves ensuring high-quality, consistent work practices and includes participation in the regional senior management team. There are opportunities for professional growth in higher-level roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a small professional team using frontline management skills like mentoring, coaching, and performance evaluations.
- Provide direct human resource support and guidance to team members.
- Offer expert advice and oversight regarding daily risk management to maintain quality case management.
- Execute duties in alignment with governance frameworks to maintain compliance and foster business improvements.
- Advise senior management on emerging risks and best practice methods related to systems and functions.
- Help staff interpret complex divisional objectives and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Manage personal professional development to stay informed of best practices in team development.
- Plan work areas including contributing to work plans, setting priorities, and monitoring outcomes.
- Demonstrate advanced computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and web-based applications to support efficient time management and daily task prioritization.
- Uphold professional conduct pursuant to the Queensland Public Service Code of Conduct.
- Encourage and maintain a positive team culture that values diversity and ensures staff competency and training for working with diverse target groups.
