This position is fully remote within the United States, with a preference for candidates located near San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Denver, or New York to facilitate occasional in-person collaboration events. San Francisco employees are encouraged to work onsite one day weekly.

Role Overview

The Strategic Finance Analyst plays a critical role in supporting AllTrails’ financial decision-making by developing financial models, monitoring key metrics, and preparing insightful reports. This position involves collaborating on several projects simultaneously, maintaining attention to detail while aligning analyses with broader business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in producing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership, board members, and investors, converting raw data into polished presentations.
• Conduct ad-hoc strategic evaluations involving cross-departmental initiatives such as marketing effectiveness, product launch strategies, and international expansion analyses.
• Develop and update comprehensive financial models to facilitate budgeting and forecasting, alongside performing regular budget variance assessments.
• Create and sustain performance dashboards and KPI reporting for various teams using SQL and Looker.
• Support incoming diligence requests and contribute to special projects as needed.

Candidate Qualifications

• 2 to 4 years of experience in sectors such as investment banking, private equity, venture capital, management consulting, or strategic finance/FP&A, ideally focused on software and internet businesses.
• Familiarity with long-range forecasting, financial reporting, and analyzing variances between forecasts and actual results.
• Proven ability to meet goals and drive results collaboratively in a team-based environment.

Technical & Analytical Expertise

• Advanced skills in Excel and Google Sheets for data analysis and financial modeling.
• Proficiency in SQL and business intelligence tools for data extraction and visualization.
• Strong analytical focus with meticulous attention to detail.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills

• Ability to create clear and engaging presentations that convey quantitative and qualitative insights effectively.
• Excellent communication skills to simplify complex ideas and share knowledge proactively with stakeholders and team members.
