About the Role and Team

Join Nike's Global Technology organization as a Software Engineer I within the Communications Technology squad, part of the Digital Employee Experience (DEE) engineering team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will collaborate closely with a team of engineers, including senior and principal engineers, who will support your professional growth. The DEE team supports diverse departments such as Comms, Sensing, Nike Archives, Legal, Resilience, Security, and Global Places and Services.

We seek a Software Engineer with 1-3 years of hands-on professional experience, eager to contribute immediately while growing technical expertise in a high-performing team environment. Collaboration skills, solid technical fundamentals, strong problem-solving ability, and a passion for creating reliable, high-quality software are essential.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience and training.
• Strong foundation in JavaScript or TypeScript with experience in front-end frameworks like React.
• Experience with REST API design and back-end service development, preferably using Node.js.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially AWS services such as Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB.
• Proficient in version control with Git and GitHub in collaborative settings.
• Experience with modern testing tools like Jest, Mocha, or Jasmine.
• Understanding of software architecture patterns and core computer science concepts.
• Exposure to agile or scrum development methodologies.
• Strong debugging skills and a keen attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with peers and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of cloud architecture, DevOps practices, infrastructure as code, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with AI and machine learning integration or implementation.
• Experience using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and operate features within Nike's internal Digital Employee Experience platforms.
• Implement well-defined features and address bugs in front-end and back-end services built with Node.js, React, and AWS.
• Monitor production environments, diagnose root causes of issues, resolve incidents, and escalate when appropriate.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests to uphold code quality and application dependability.
• Build and consume RESTful APIs adhering to team standards and best practices.
• Support deployment efforts and maintain CI/CD pipelines utilizing GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
• Contribute to code reviews by providing and accepting constructive feedback.
• Document technical processes, issue resolutions, and API details to facilitate team knowledge sharing.
• Engage actively in agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and architecture discussions.
