Job description
Overview
We are looking for a seasoned scientist to contribute to building cutting-edge software development tools in the quantum computing field. Candidates should have a deep understanding of quantum computing, ideally complemented by experience in compiler design and programming languages. This role involves close collaboration with physicists, computer scientists, and cross-functional teams including product, engineering, and design to create foundational technologies supporting our products. Strong communication skills, eagerness to learn, and a drive to advance technology frontiers are essential.
The selected candidate will be integral to a rapidly expanding team shaping the software architecture for our development tools and laying groundwork for upcoming products.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with scientific and engineering teams to design and implement programming tools interfacing with quantum hardware
- Develop and enhance software components that translate high-level programs into machine-specific instructions
- Address scientific and technical challenges to support product innovation at Horizon Quantum
- Provide mentorship to junior scientists, fostering growth and technical skill enhancement
- Document work thoroughly and effectively communicate outcomes internally and externally
- Prepare reports, research publications, and technical documentation as required
- Collaborate with internal staff and external partners to create and safeguard intellectual property related to quantum hardware and software innovations
- Stay informed on the latest developments in science and technology within the quantum computing domain
Candidate Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent research experience in Quantum Computing, Quantum Physics, Computer Science, or closely related disciplines
- Strong expertise in quantum programming and proficiency in Python and Matlab; knowledge of C and C++ is preferable
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, especially in debugging and troubleshooting
- Ability to operate effectively both independently and collaboratively within teams
- Highly motivated, passionate about learning and advancing technical knowledge
- Exceptional collaboration, communication, and documentation capabilities
Preferred Experience
- At least two years of postdoctoral research or comparable industrial R&D experience
- Background in compiler development or programming language design
- Experience contributing to commercial software development projects
