Role Overview

This senior-level full-time position involves working onsite in Al Khobar. The Senior Product Engineer will spearhead the design and development of new products, enhance existing designs, and conduct comprehensive research to optimize operational efficiency. Routine duties include cost-analysis of designs, adherence to industry specifications, collaborating across departments, and resolving production challenges to boost performance.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead the engineering design and development of gate valves, hammer unions, OCTG items, API wellhead and pressure control systems, and wireline tools.
• Produce, critique, and authorize engineering documentation such as drawings, 3D CAD models, calculations, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical spec sheets.
• Conduct design verification activities and compile detailed Design Verification Reports compliant with API standards (6A, 16A, 16C, 5CT, 5B).
• Implement product enhancements by refining designs, optimizing materials, and applying value engineering principles.
• Handle Product Lifecycle Management tasks including data control, change management, and documentation upkeep.
• Distribute engineering change orders and update technical documents to inform all relevant stakeholders.
• Act as the main technical liaison for customer inquiries, product uses, and clarifications.
• Collaborate with the Commercial team to prepare and review proposals, quotations, and tenders.
• Lead customer design evaluations, deliver technical presentations, and secure approvals to strengthen client relationships.
• Assess contracts and sales orders for technical viability, risk identification, and engineering alignment.
• Provide technical support for product applications, troubleshooting, and field service assistance.
• Maintain technical documentation such as product catalogs, data sheets, and usage guidelines.
• Coordinate closely with Operations teams: Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, and Production Planning to ensure accurate translation of designs, material specifications, quality standards, and production planning.
• Participate in CAPA reviews and spearhead root cause analyses to elevate product quality.
• Represent the organization during API monogram and licensing audits ensuring all engineering and manufacturing processes comply with standards (API, ASME, NACE, ISO).
• Maintain readiness for internal and external audits by keeping engineering records and documentation comprehensive and accessible.
• Monitor and communicate changes in API standards and regulatory requirements affecting the product range.
• Drive continuous product and process improvements aimed at cost reduction and enhanced performance.
• Share knowledge by conducting Lessons Learned sessions, technical reviews, and mentoring junior engineers in design practices and standards interpretation.

Required Education and Experience

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering and bring 10 to 15 years of verified experience in product engineering, design, and technical support within oil & gas manufacturing, service, or repair environments.

Specialized Knowledge and Expertise

• Expertise in components and design of gate valves (including gate, seat, stem, body, bonnet, and packing systems) as well as hammer union products.
• Deep familiarity with OCTG products, their connections, and threading standards such as API 5CT, 5B, and premium connections.
• Comprehensive understanding of API 6A, 16A, and 16C standards governing wellhead, Christmas tree, and pressure control equipment engineering and production.
• Experience with wireline tools covering their design, application, and maintenance considerations.
