Role Overview
This position offers an exceptional opportunity to engage with prominent construction projects across Ireland while contributing to the expansion of a Tier 1 contracting company. The Senior Estimator will report directly to the Estimating Manager and be responsible for precisely calculating projected costs of upcoming projects by evaluating all pertinent details.
Located primarily at the Carroll's Quay office in Cork, the successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Distribute all tender documents promptly and ensure the tender team is fully informed.
- Issue enquiries to subcontractors and material suppliers, including defining scopes of work and attendance schedules where relevant.
- Follow up on tender submissions and maintain an updated enquiry log.
- Collaborate with the tender team to raise and address tender queries effectively.
- Identify and resolve gaps in tender documents, compiling clarifications and estimator notes as necessary.
- Prepare and evaluate risk schedules and opportunity assessments.
- Create value engineering plans to optimize costs and solutions.
- Analyze tenders and pricing details from the supply chain thoroughly.
- Generate tender settlement packages clearly outlining net costs, risks, and opportunities.
- Submit completed tender documentation including Forms of Tender, Bills of Quantities, and related commercial data.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related discipline such as Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Technology.
- At least 6 years of professional experience in roles like estimating or quantity surveying.
- Strong analytical abilities and numeracy skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; familiarity with estimating software such as Conquest, Cubit, Buildsoft, or CostX is advantageous.
- Up-to-date knowledge of construction technologies, materials, and cost structures.
- Demonstrated responsibility for managing budgets effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Good problem-solving aptitude and ability to operate independently or within a team.
