School Cleaner (Custodian) - Hamilton County, Soddy-Daisy, TN

Job Overview

We are seeking a dependable and experienced School Custodian to carry out routine cleaning tasks within assigned areas at educational facilities ranging from K-12 schools to colleges and universities.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of designated zones including classrooms, corridors, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways.
• Sweep floors, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors as assigned.
• Monitor trash receptacles regularly and empty them when necessary.
• Adhere to safety procedures when using chemical cleaning agents and power tools to protect flooring and fixtures.
• Report any needed minor or major repairs or additions related to building systems to the lead custodian or manager.
• Maintain effective communication and collaborative relationships with clients, colleagues, shift supervisors, and management.
• Gather, separate, and consolidate recyclables into the appropriate containers.
• Clean and dust furniture, fixtures, doors, window sills, floors, ceilings, and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces, including woodwork and stainless steel areas.
• Wipe down tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food service zones.
• Relocate cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment using manual effort or hand trucks to facilitate cleaning.
• Clean interior glass surfaces, partitions, windows, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning materials and tools.
• Perform seasonal tasks such as sweeping walkways, leaf raking, grass cutting, and snow removal as needed.
• Maintain restroom cleanliness, including polishing fixtures, to established standards.
• Comply with all safety, security, regulatory, and quality policies set by the company, clients, and governing agencies.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

• Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
• No previous experience required; comprehensive on-the-job training provided.
• No educational credentials needed, including high school diploma, GED, or college degree.

Preferred Experience:

• Customer service background is advantageous.
• At least one year of related custodial or cleaning experience preferred.
