Overview
The Regional Director of Operations is a high-level field leader accountable for the overall success, profitability, and positive workplace culture of all sites within a designated region. Reporting directly to the Brand President, this role manages a team of multi-unit and store managers, ensuring that each location adheres to brand standards, provides excellent and uniform guest experiences, and meets financial and operational objectives. The Regional Director is charged with translating corporate strategies into consistent execution at the store level, fostering leadership development, driving growth in sales and profit margins, and supporting the opening of new stores during company expansion.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Take complete ownership of profitable operations across all sites in the region, while upholding the company’s culture, mission, and core values.
- Design and implement regional plans to meet financial, operational, and customer service targets, clearly communicating priorities to field leadership.
- Lead, mentor, and hold accountable multi-unit and store managers by providing actionable, continuous feedback aligned with defined expectations.
- Maintain a consistent, hands-on presence throughout locations to reinforce processes, evaluate performance, and support teams.
- Manage the regional profit and loss statement by overseeing cost of goods sold (COGS), labor, inventory, and scheduling to achieve targeted financial results.
- Analyze regional metrics and trends to identify issues, implement corrective measures, and encourage ongoing improvement.
- Ensure all locations deliver prompt service, meet drive-thru wait time standards, maintain cleanliness and product quality, offering an outstanding customer experience.
- Identify and cultivate high-potential managers and shift leaders to strengthen the leadership pipeline and promote internal growth.
- Collaborate with training and operational excellence teams to deploy company-wide initiatives and maintain operational standards in the region.
- Support new location openings by ensuring correct staffing, training, and strict adherence to brand standards from launch.
- Ensure compliance with company policies as well as local, state, and federal regulations, including those pertaining to health, safety, and labor.
- Be accessible and responsive to field leaders and store teams, providing guidance and assistance with operational or staffing challenges.
- Participate and lead necessary leadership and regional meetings to align teams with the company’s strategic and operational goals.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Hospitality, or similar fields is preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years in progressively responsible operations leadership roles, including at least 2 years managing multiple locations, ideally in restaurant, foodservice, retail, or hospitality sectors.
- Proven success in leading multiple sites to achieve or surpass sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction goals.
- Strong financial skills with P&L ownership experience, including managing COGS, labor, and operational budgets over multiple units.
- Demonstrated ability to build and develop high-performing teams with a focus on internal promotion and talent growth.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication capabilities, with a capacity to enforce accountability while fostering trust and a positive work environment.
- Comfort with technology such as POS systems, scheduling tools, inventory management, and performance reporting to drive data-informed decisions.
- Willingness and capacity to travel extensively within the assigned region, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
Additional Information
- This role involves direct supervision of multi-unit and store managers, responsible for their performance and growth.
- The Regional Director prepares and administers the regional operating budget, accountable for profitability, expenses, and budget consistency, with purchase approvals handled by the Brand President.
- The work environment includes store, field, and office settings, utilizing standard office and store equipment like computers, phones, and POS systems.
- Physical requirements include frequent talking, hearing, sitting, standing, walking, handling objects, occasional climbing and bending, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds periodically.
- The position is full-time, exempt, typically Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but requires flexibility for early, late, or weekend shifts due to operational needs.
- Travel can be as much as 75%, including overnight stays, to support all locations within the region.
