Job description

Role Overview

The African Union is seeking a Recruitment Officer based in Ghana to facilitate comprehensive recruitment and onboarding processes. The role involves supporting daily operations and ensuring smooth execution of recruitment strategies and policies.

Primary Duties

  • Track and assist with divisional activities and program implementation within the recruitment unit.
  • Conduct analyses and prepare timely, precise reports for internal use.
  • Support senior management in policy direction related to recruitment.
  • Coordinate meetings, conferences, and congresses involving various stakeholders.
  • Engage with mid-level stakeholders and foster professional relationships as delegated.
  • Promote divisional activities by creating leaflets, guidelines, and fact sheets.
  • Provide technical assistance to both internal and external partners.

Specific Recruitment Responsibilities

  • Draft and establish standard operating procedures, policies, and guidelines for shortlisting, interviewing, and selecting candidates.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of HR policies and practices; recommend updates as needed.
  • Contribute to the annual recruitment planning and support recruitment processes.
  • Ensure adherence to recruitment policies and staff regulations during hiring.
  • Collaborate with managers and HR business partners to draft accurate job postings aligned with approved criteria.
  • Manage job vacancy publications on the African Union website and social media platforms.
  • Closely supervise the vacancy announcement processes to ensure timely recruitment.
  • Coordinate candidate shortlisting and interviews, utilizing SAP SuccessFactors and other Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Assist recruitment panels and candidates throughout the process.
  • Obtain necessary approvals for appointments, prepare contracts through SAP, and generate job offers.
  • Perform additional HR duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, Marketing, or related fields.
  • At least two years of pertinent professional experience in HR or recruitment roles.

  • Proficiency in one African Union working language (English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Swahili, Arabic); fluency in additional AU languages considered advantageous.
