Role Summary

The Receiving Associate plays a vital role in efficiently managing incoming shipments by unloading, sorting, and preparing merchandise for storage or sales floor placement. This position ensures that inventory is accurately received, properly displayed, and maintains optimal stock levels, with special attention to apparel merchandising and adherence to established procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

Process purchase orders accurately by following standard operating procedures.
Use scanning devices and computer systems to document receipt of merchandise.
Track and report shortages in purchase orders and distribution center shipments daily.
Maintain organized filing of receiving documentation on a daily basis.
Assist in sorting distribution center trucks and verify vendor price tags.
Apply security tags and pricing labels to selected apparel items in accordance with SOPs.
Monitor inventory levels of supplies such as hangers, labels, and security tags.
Manage store-to-store transfers, shipping, and receiving activities with proper recordkeeping.
Support inventory control on sales floors during peak periods.
Work collaboratively within the receiving team to ensure smooth operations.
Follow company protocols related to receiving functions.
Organize products on rocket carts for efficient distribution to sales areas.
Transport sorted freight to sales floors ensuring accurate quantities are delivered.
Assist management in tracking merchandise and researching inventory discrepancies including negative on-hand quantities.
Facilitate efficient store-to-store and UPS transfers.
Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the work environment.
Operate essential equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and general office machines.
Participate in cross-training initiatives to increase departmental flexibility and capability.
Engage in learning and development opportunities including training programs and workshops to enhance job knowledge and skills.
Deliver courteous, professional support internally and externally by promptly addressing inquiries and issues.

Candidate Qualifications

A minimum of one year experience in receiving or an equivalent blend of education and experience.
Strong ability to collaborate and adapt in a fast-paced team environment.
Proven ability to produce accurate work consistently, meeting quality standards.
Capable of working independently without direct supervision.
Comfortable using computer systems and related software for operational tasks and customer assistance.

Physical Demands

Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods as required by job tasks.
Capability to lift, push, or pull loads of at least 30 pounds repeatedly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Experience operating ladders, pallet jacks, and forklifts safely.
Access and navigate all areas of the facility effectively.
Strong verbal communication skills for both in-person and electronic interaction.
Good close vision to perform computer-based activities accurately.
