Role overview
A manufacturing employer in Athens, Alabama is looking for a Quality Assurance Clerk for the second shift. This is a full-time onsite role in a production environment, with an opportunity to build experience in manufacturing quality work. The schedule runs Monday through Thursday on 2nd shift, with hours of 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM or 4:30 PM to 3:00 AM.
What the role involves
- Build and keep inspection and shipping paperwork accurate and up to date.
- Check quality documentation for completeness and correctness.
- Share required records with customers, such as packing lists, certificates of conformance, inspection reports, material certifications, and blueprints.
- Set up and maintain product job folders and Device History Records (DHRs).
- Handle customer communication related to shipping paperwork and outbound orders.
- Oversee the gage calibration process, including scheduling, tracking, reporting, and documentation.
- Work with outside calibration vendors on service requests, status updates, quotations, and tracking.
- Update calibration information in software systems and flag any gages that are out of tolerance.
- Collect and manage Material Review Board (MRB) information.
- Follow SOPs, keep the work area organized and clean, support improvement efforts, and take on additional duties as needed.
- Maintain dependable attendance and remain available for overtime when the business requires it.
What they are looking for
- Background in a manufacturing setting supporting quality, engineering, or operations.
- Working knowledge of GD&T and inspection techniques.
- Hands-on ability with measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, optical comparators, plug gauges, pitch micrometers, and CMMs.
- Comfort reading blueprints, specifications, and inspection instructions.
- Good computer ability, including Microsoft Office tools with strong Excel use, plus ERP, QMS, and customer systems.
- Strong organization, multitasking, critical thinking, and problem-solving ability.
- Professional communication and the ability to work well with others in a team setting.
- Experience in ISO- or FDA-regulated manufacturing is a plus.
