QA/QC Manager

Position Summary

PONTICELLI NIGERIA, part of the Ponticelli Frères Group, is currently recruiting a QA/QC Manager to contribute to construction projects and industrial maintenance activities. This role offers the opportunity to enhance your expertise while working within a family-owned organization dedicated to delivering essential services such as energy, health, water, food, and security with respect for both the planet and employees. The role is permanent and based in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage project quality ensuring adherence to relevant codes, standards, regulations, equipment specifications, and quality management system (QMS) requirements.
• Drive improvements in quality outcomes and organizational performance.
• Lead the development and implementation of the QMS covering planning, fabrication, inspection, documentation, and operational activities.
• Schedule and allocate duties within the QA/QC team and manage work priorities.
• Define service standards for internal and external customers.
• Identify certification requirements and training needs for QA/QC personnel and provide mentorship and leadership.
• Authorize hold-point releases ensuring all QMS functions are complete and equipment is ready to proceed to the next phase.
• Implement risk-based inspection (RBI) methodologies and processes.
• Maintain plant integrity via failure analysis reporting and follow-up of remedial actions.
• Supervise all visual inspections and non-destructive examinations (NDE), including oversight of third-party subcontractors.
• Coordinate inspection, NDE, and testing plans for new construction, repairs, and modifications.
• Develop corrective solutions to address inspection-related deficiencies.
• Manage construction processes, certifications of inspection and NDE personnel, and conduct internal QMS audits.
• Manage welding procedures, qualifications, and related testing.
• Evaluate project-specific welding requirements and ensure applicability of existing in-house procedures or develop new ones as necessary.
• Coordinate multiple projects and oversee external test laboratories along with classification societies and notified bodies for approvals and testing of welding procedures.
• Provide technical support aligned with standards such as ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, AWS, BS EN, and other relevant industry specifications.
• Oversee the control and management of materials and consumables for welder certification and procedures.
• Lead failure and root cause analyses for welding-related issues when required.
• Establish and maintain a comprehensive welder database.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of five years' experience in a similar QA/QC managerial role.
• Strong communication skills, with proficiency in both written and oral English, including engineering reports and memos.
• Professional fluency in English is mandatory.

Additional Information

The employment follows a rotation schedule of 9 days on duty followed by 3 days off.
