Role overview
Khan Academy India is hiring a Program Associate for its Schools Team to support the programme with the Odisha government school system. The position is based in Odisha and will work closely with the Senior Program Lead and Project Lead to help drive implementation in partnership with the Odisha Education Department. The role also involves coordination with the Content, Partner Operations, Teacher Professional Development, Data, and Efficacy teams to support strong programme delivery.
This is a 12-month contract position.
Key responsibilities
- Help roll out the Khan Academy learning platform across government schools and support smooth programme execution.
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with officials such as nodal officers, state resource persons, district-level officers, and block-level officers.
- Carry out regular field visits, typically 8 to 10 per month, and hold around 10 to 15 calls with middle-layer stakeholders to understand implementation on the ground.
- Record all state-level discussions in a consistent format and keep both internal and external stakeholders informed.
- Use qualitative feedback from state systems to strengthen learning and improve programme understanding.
- Work with cross-functional teams across Khan Academy India to ensure the programme and related services are delivered on time and successfully.
- Take on any additional support tasks required for the programme.
Requirements
- 3 to 4 years of relevant work experience is preferred.
- Experience as an educator or prior work with government schools in Odisha will be considered an advantage.
- Must be fluent in Odia, both spoken and written.
- Should be able to collaborate well and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong planning, organization, and multitasking abilities are important.
- Should be able to collect information from multiple sources and convert it into clear, usable documentation in English and Odia.
- Comfort with data is required, including identifying patterns, drawing evidence-based conclusions, and adapting partnership plans using qualitative insights.
- Must communicate clearly with different audiences through email, written material, presentations, and spoken interactions.
- Should learn quickly and adapt fast to new challenges.
- An entrepreneurial approach is needed, along with comfort with ambiguity, experimentation, and action-oriented work.
- Willingness to contribute hands-on as the team grows.
- Strong passion for education and a desire to create positive change.
- Must be open to relocating to Odisha and working from the government office.
