Overview
Narayan Powertech Private Limited – Standex Electronics GRID located in Luna, Padra Road, Vadodara is seeking an experienced Production Planner. This role is pivotal in crafting executable and resource-balanced production schedules from sales orders and engineering releases across CT, PT, and LV/MV instrument transformer manufacturing lines. The planner will manage constraints related to materials, machine capacity, manpower, and handle customization complexities in a dynamic, make-to-order environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and revise daily schedules ensuring alignment with machine availability, manpower deployment, and material readiness for CT, PT, and LV/MV transformer lines.
- Lead daily shop floor meetings to assess schedule compliance, identify bottlenecks, and adjust job sequences in response to material issues, engineering holds, and customer urgencies.
- Monitor daily production outputs against targets and initiate corrective actions when deviations occur.
- Maintain up-to-date insights into work-in-progress stages, including assembly, winding, insulation, tanking, oil filling, and final testing.
- Develop coordinated weekly plans by integrating sales orders, engineering releases, and material status; conduct capacity-load balancing reviews to optimize resource utilization.
- Collaborate with procurement to anticipate material needs, especially for long-lead or customized components, and manage weekly on-time delivery (OTD) tracking with recovery plans for potential delays.
- Formulate monthly production plans consistent with sales forecasts, confirmed orders, and dispatch goals, while facilitating Sales & Operations Planning meetings to align capacity with demand.
- Analyze trends in scheduling adherence, rework rates, and OTD performance to identify recurring issues and propose improvements.
- Translate customer-specific technical requirements into detailed production routings and resource allocations, including contingency planning for unique configurations.
- Coordinate closely with design and engineering teams to synchronize drawing releases and production start times to avoid inefficiencies.
- Maintain priority frameworks balancing customer commitments, customization complexity, and capacity constraints.
- Own accountability for achieving realistic production targets and preserving on-time delivery through proactive monitoring and cross-functional coordination.
- Implement early-warning systems to detect material shortages, capacity bottlenecks, and quality issues in advance.
- Work with procurement to ensure timely availability of raw materials aligned with scheduled production.
- Maintain updated capacity modeling for critical equipment, adjusting plans based on order volumes and customization demands.
- Flag resource constraints early and collaborate on solutions such as overtime, subcontracting, or job resequencing.
- Ensure robust cross-department engagement with Design, Quality, Procurement, and Dispatch teams to maintain accurate and feasible production plans reflecting real-time shop floor conditions.
- Support Sales and Customer Service with realistic delivery commitments reflecting actual production load and complexity.
- Maintain accurate planning records within ERP systems, fostering data traceability at every production stage.
- Develop and institutionalize standardized planning templates, review processes, and escalation protocols to minimize reactive management.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives addressing root causes of schedule disruptions in cooperation with relevant departments.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred; candidates with degrees in Mechanical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Production/Industrial Engineering with relevant industry experience will also be considered.
- Eight to twelve years of comprehensive experience in production planning and control, ideally within electrical equipment manufacturing, specifically CT, PT, instrument transformers, or related power equipment sectors.
- Experience in the energy or power domain is highly advantageous due to technical and regulatory complexities.
- Proven track record managing planning in a make-to-order or highly customized manufacturing setting is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with relevant IS/IEC standards for CT, PT, and LV/MV instrument transformers.
- Hands-on experience with ERP or production planning software, capacity planning, and scheduling tools.
