Role Overview
Join His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service as an Operational Support Grade (OSG) at HMP Grendon and Springhill. This position involves a broad range of duties essential to maintaining the smooth and secure functioning of a busy prison. The role features a combination of administrative and physical tasks, such as conducting security checks, managing deliveries, supervising visitors, and monitoring phones and CCTV systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct security searches and manage access at the prison entrance.
- Oversee parcel and delivery checks within the facility.
- Supervise visitor interactions and maintain safety protocols.
- Monitor telephone communications and CCTV footage for security.
- Perform escort duties across prison grounds, including driving vehicles safely within the premises.
- Handle physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and walking extensively.
Candidate Profile
No specific qualifications are required; however, strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure are vital. Good judgment, common sense, and teamwork are essential characteristics. A valid UK driving license is mandatory due to the role’s driving responsibilities.
