Plant Operator - Grader (Construction)

About the Position

Parkes Shire Council is seeking a skilled Grader Operator to join their Operations team. The role primarily involves operating a grader to undertake construction and maintenance of the council's road infrastructure. Additional responsibilities may include leading on-site teams, operating other mobile equipment within authorized training, assisting with work set out, and managing traffic control.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a grader for road construction and maintenance activities.
• Supervise site activities and lead teams when required.
• Operate other mobile plant equipment aligned with training and capability.
• Assist with marking out and setting of work areas.
• Perform traffic control duties.

Candidate Profile

The ideal applicant will possess excellent communication and teamwork abilities, and will be autonomous within guidelines set by Works Supervisors. Experience working across various locations within the Shire will be expected.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience

• Current valid NSW Driver's Licence.
• White Card (SafeWork NSW Construction Induction).
• Proven experience operating mobile plant, particularly graders.
• Background in civil construction grading and supervision of work teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certificate III in Civil Construction.
• Traffic Control qualifications including Traffic Controller and implementing Traffic Control plans.
• Competency certification to operate graders.
• Other plant operation certificates.
• Current First Aid Certificate.

Compensation and Benefits

This role aligns with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council employment policies. Classified as Grade 9 in the salary structure, the starting salary ranges from $70,108.50 annually, translating to hourly rates between $35.48 and $40.80, adjusted based on candidate qualifications and experience.
