Job Overview

We are seeking a diligent and skilled Pharmacist to join our team at U.S. Renal Care in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This role involves ensuring the safe and appropriate use of medications, supporting clinical teams, and enhancing patient care standards within a dialysis or hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audit prescriptions to verify accuracy and patient safety.
  • Advise on medication dosage and appropriate administration forms such as tablets, injections, ointments, or inhalers.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation of pharmaceutical information.
  • Disseminate educational materials to pharmacists, doctors, nurses, and patients.
  • Participate in clinical rounds, reviewing patient drug histories and contributing to treatment decisions.
  • Ensure secure and correct storage of medications, including a monthly audit of stocks.
  • Supervise junior pharmacy staff to maintain quality standards.
  • Stay informed about the latest pharmaceutical research and innovations.
  • Develop and enforce clear institutional guidelines for medication use.
  • Monitor and report on pharmaceutical expenditure.
  • Prepare and conduct quality checks on sterile medications such as intravenous drugs.
  • Accurately compound medications following prescribed protocols, ensuring proper dosages and clean, safe work conditions.
  • Validate medication preparations by double-checking with colleagues for accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Provide training and mentorship to new pharmacists and other team members.
  • Ensure proper labeling and secure handling of high-alert medications.
  • Manage crash cart medications, ensuring boxes are sealed and restocked post-use.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and promote clinical excellence and patient satisfaction.
  • Advocate for patient safety by adhering to infection control policies and reporting risks.
  • Foster multidisciplinary collaboration aimed at improving patient outcomes and care quality.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a pharmacy role, preferably in dialysis or hospital environments.
  • Current professional pharmacist registration from country of origin.
  • Licensure with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from either the Saudi or American Heart Association.
