About the Role
We are seeking a People Operations Coordinator to act as a bridge between our HR department and daily warehouse activities, supporting the team behind our fast-growing application, Rips. Our operations team currently consists of over 60 members and is rapidly expanding. This position will aid our People Operations and TCG/Rips Operations Management teams by keeping them organized, ensuring compliance, and focusing on the welfare of our workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update employee records using our HRIS system, Rippling, including new hires, departures, status updates, and employment verifications.
- Assist with audits to maintain compliance with California labor laws, including wage and hour standards and mandatory labor law postings.
- Support I-9 verification and employment eligibility documentation processes.
- Administer California-specific leave programs such as CFRA, SDI, and PTO, track leave balances, and escalate complex cases to the Head of People Operations.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for new employees during onboarding by answering queries, offering guidance, and ensuring smooth transitions.
- Support recruiting activities through interview scheduling, candidate screening assistance, and enhancing the overall candidate experience during periods of high-volume hiring.
- Facilitate offboarding by managing exit documents and coordinating with payroll teams.
- Review and approve employee timecards, identify discrepancies before each payroll cycle, and coordinate scheduling with operations managers across seven-day shifts to monitor attendance and address coverage gaps.
- Ensure meal and rest break compliance by staying informed about California labor regulations, responding to employee and manager questions, and reporting issues uncovered during timecard reviews.
- Act as a primary point of contact for inquiries about payroll, paid time off, benefits enrollment, and HR policies, directing issues to appropriate contacts as needed.
- Assist with payroll data compilation and generate necessary reports.
- Manage HR correspondence, organize cross-departmental meetings and training logistics, and contribute to various projects within people and operations teams.
- Participate in People Operations initiatives involving onboarding, systems enhancement, compliance improvement, and employee experience as the business grows.
- Collaborate with the broader People Ops team by sharing knowledge, documenting processes, and providing coverage during operational workflow demands.
- Maintain flexibility to adapt quickly to shifting priorities, take initiative, and support wherever needed to help the team succeed.
Qualifications
- 1 to 2 years of experience in HR or People Operations, preferably with direct involvement in onboarding, compliance, employee relations, or managing the employee lifecycle; candidates with up to 3 years of relevant experience will also be considered.
- Experience using Rippling is highly advantageous, with additional HRIS or timekeeping system familiarity valued.
- Experience managing schedules or timecards in a shift-based, hourly workforce environment is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent communication abilities, and discretion in handling sensitive employee information.
- Adaptability and resourcefulness, capable of managing multiple priorities in an environment with ambiguity.
- Knowledge of California employment laws is a significant benefit.
- Genuine interest in gaming, Pokémon, collectibles, or trading card games is considered a bonus.
Work Schedule & Location
This position is based onsite at our Mountain View warehouse, with part-time hours Monday through Thursday (32 hours per week). The role offers stable scheduling with occasional flexibility to adjust days based on business needs, and has strong potential for transition into full-time employment as the team expands.
Why Join Triumph?
- An opportunity to work within a highly dynamic and rapidly growing People Ops team serving a booming operations group in the trading card game industry, providing tangible ownership and impact from day one.
- A supportive environment with significant room for growth as the team plans to double in size shortly.
- A vibrant and enthusiastic team culture focused on delivering results with impressive year-over-year growth (16 times growth).
- Competitive compensation and benefits package including healthcare, vision, dental plans, and 401(k) options.
