Overview

The Pellet Mill Operator position entails managing and overseeing the operation of pellet mill machinery to ensure the production of high-grade pellets adhering to established quality and production norms. This role demands vigilant monitoring of operational parameters, routine equipment checks, and strict compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate pellet mill machinery following defined standard operating procedures.
• Safely initiate, adjust, and terminate pellet mill operations.
• Constantly observe production variables such as temperature, pressure, moisture, and pellet quality.
• Fine-tune equipment settings to optimize pellet output and reduce wastage.
• Examine input materials and end products to verify conformity with quality standards.
• Perform scheduled inspections of machinery, reporting mechanical or operational abnormalities.
• Carry out routine maintenance actions including cleaning, lubrication, and minor adjustments.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams for repairs and planned upkeep.
• Document production statistics, equipment status, downtime, and maintenance work.
• Maintain tidiness and organization of the production environment.
• Adhere to all necessary health, safety, environmental, and quality protocols, including proper personal protective equipment use.
• Assist in tracking inventories of raw materials and production resources.
• Contribute to ongoing improvement efforts aimed at boosting productivity and enhancing product quality.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school or possession of a technical certificate or equivalent.
• Preferably some experience with pellet mill operations or similar industrial machinery.
• Fundamental understanding of mechanical systems and manufacturing procedures.
• Instruction comprehension and ability to follow production documentation.
• Basic proficiency in computer use for data recording purposes.
