Peer Support Worker

About the Role

Join St John of God Social Outreach as a Peer Support Worker within our Medicare Mental Health Service located in Midland, Western Australia. This permanent full-time position involves shift work rotating over a seven-day roster, including weekends and public holidays.

Our service offers a welcoming, safe space for community members to access free mental health support without needing referrals or appointments. The team combines the expertise of qualified mental health professionals and individuals with lived experience to provide immediate assistance to adults and their support networks in distress. We also facilitate connections to additional services, such as employment support.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage in diverse programs that enhance individuals' skills and knowledge, improving their access to community services.
• Deliver respectful, dignified, and rights-focused support to each person served.
• Contribute towards personal, team, and service objectives.
• Collaborate with clinical staff and management to enhance service quality and standards.
• Maintain a high-quality service environment prioritizing the health, safety, and wellbeing of all clients and colleagues.
• Address clients' needs based on their life circumstances, including professional and empathetic assistance with personal care where appropriate.
• Accurately document client information in designated management systems and assist with Care Plan development.

Candidate Profile

Applicants should have experience working alongside service providers and community groups to raise awareness about mental health challenges. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, proficient computer literacy, and the ability to meet deadlines are essential. A current national police clearance is required.

Additional Information

• Salary starting from $71,352 to $77,022 per annum plus 12% superannuation (effective July 2026).
• Permanent full-time position; 38 hours per week with Monday to Sunday roster.
• Salary packaging available up to $18,550 for benefits including mortgage, rent, meals, holiday accommodation, and offers beyond usual tax caps such as novated leasing, work-related expenses, self-education, and extra superannuation.
