Job description
Role Overview
Join the exciting expansion of Nutella Biscuits' production operations under Ferrero in Brantford, Ontario, where over 50 permanent employees will be part of this significant growth. As an early Production Operator in Packaging, you will help launch and maintain global manufacturing of Nutella Biscuits' new secondary production line.
Key Duties
- Operate and closely monitor equipment throughout the packaging process following Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
- Adjust critical process parameters such as temperature, speed, and sealing pressures to maintain consistent package quality.
- Conduct ongoing visual inspections to uphold quality standards at all production phases.
- Work with maintenance teams to quickly resolve equipment issues to reduce downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Assist with sanitation, equipment changeovers, and line cleaning as needed.
- Focus on minimizing waste and supporting yield improvement projects.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping within the production area.
- Ensure compliance with Ferrero’s quality and food safety standards including GMPs, HACCP, and ISO.
- Follow stringent health and safety measures, including lockout/tagout protocols.
- Contribute actively to Ferrero’s Operational Excellence (FOX), My Idea Counts (MICO), and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Accurately document production data and maintain full traceability of raw materials and processes.
- Demonstrate environmental responsibility in line with Ferrero’s sustainability policies.
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience in manufacturing environments, particularly packaging, is required.
- Familiarity with automated production equipment and advanced manufacturing technologies is a plus.
- Experience in biscuit, baking, or chocolate production is highly advantageous.
- Comfortable with technology including monitoring systems and equipment parameter adjustments.
- Solid understanding of food safety and quality systems such as ISO, HACCP, and GMPs.
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality products consistently.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to follow standardized procedures reliably.
- Good communication skills with a team-oriented attitude.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and eventually nights, adapting to evolving schedules.
- Enthusiasm for learning and participating in continuous improvement efforts.
Shift Information
The production schedule is currently a rotating 8-hour morning and afternoon shift, with nights included in the future and transitioning to 12-hour continental rotating shifts by January 2027. Flexibility is essential due to changing scheduling needs.
Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated pay rate is $28.07 per hour, complemented by additional shift premiums where applicable. A competitive benefits package is offered, covering health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and more.
