About the Role

Become a vital part of the costume workshops at Oper Leipzig, where your craftsmanship will bring elegance and theatrical magic to life through the creation of distinctive headwear, masks, and accessories. You will contribute to the visual storytelling on stage by designing and producing finely crafted, stylish elements that complete each character's appearance across opera, ballet, musical comedy, and drama productions.

Key Responsibilities

• Create high-quality headwear, masks, and accessories for stage costumes in new and ongoing performances.
• Precisely execute designs based on costume sketches in close collaboration with costume designers.
• Conduct fittings for hats and participate in final stage rehearsals.
• Perform careful repairs, maintenance, and adjustments of headwear, jewelry, and accessories.
• Support various productions at Oper Leipzig, including opera, ballet, musical comedy, theater, and youth theater.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Completed apprenticeship as a modist, milliner (Putzmacher/in), or a comparable qualification.
• Experience in crafting both contemporary and historical headwear, masks, and accessories, preferably in theatrical contexts.
• Strong knowledge of materials and skilled handcraft techniques.
• Creativity fused with artistic sensitivity and a keen sense for style-accurate realization.
• Organized, practical, and economically minded approach to work.
• Excellent organizational skills, reliability, and strong teamwork spirit.
• Flexibility, resilience, and enthusiasm for working within a creative stage environment.
