Role overview

Tiger Brands is looking for a Millwright to support dependable plant operations at its Potchefstroom site in North-West, South Africa. The position focuses on keeping equipment available, efficient, and operating at full capacity through disciplined maintenance and troubleshooting.

Key duties

• Carry out planned and preventive maintenance to improve machine reliability, availability, and overall plant throughput.
• Handle electrical and mechanical repairs, fault-finding, and corrective maintenance to keep equipment running smoothly.
• Inspect equipment regularly, including lubrication and adjustments, to avoid failures and identify issues in motors, pumps, belts, gears, and related parts.
• Rewire machinery when needed to improve safety and performance, and resolve faults in electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Rebuild and restore standby or older machines so they can be used quickly during breakdowns and help reduce downtime.
• Install, align, and assemble machinery and equipment for production use.
• Work according to a preventive maintenance plan, engineering standards, and company procedures to limit stoppages.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts aimed at boosting plant efficiency and lowering downtime.
• Follow company safety requirements and comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Keep detailed maintenance logs, repair records, replacement information, and machine condition reports.

What you need to bring

The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge across mechanical and electrical systems, along with the ability to diagnose faults accurately and work well with others. The role also calls for solid communication, discipline, energy, and a practical understanding of controls and automation.

Additional requirements

• Experience with Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), ideally DMS.
• Good teamwork and interpersonal ability.
• Mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge.
• Strong analytical thinking and fault-diagnosis capability.
• Clear communication for coordination and maintenance reporting.
• High energy, discipline, and effective work habits.
• Working knowledge of electrical controls, including variable speed drives and motors.
• Basic familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Matric or an equivalent school qualification.
• N3 Electrical Engineering and/or Mechanical Engineering.
• Millwright Trade Test certification.
• At least 3 years' experience as a Millwright in a similar environment, preferably manufacturing or FMCG.
• At least 3 years' experience in an FMCG setting.
• At least 3 years' experience in an electro-mechanical environment.

Experience and qualification notes

This position is intended for a qualified Millwright with hands-on industrial maintenance experience, especially in manufacturing and FMCG operations.
