About the Role
Amentum is recruiting a Message Center Operator to provide essential support for the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) located on Andros Island in the Bahamas. AUTEC serves as a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and represents the largest ongoing project of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport. It offers critical testing and training services within both deep and shallow water environments.
The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring full accountability and secure handling of Local Element CMS/EKMS and related classified materials, records, and equipment within the Communications Message Center. Tasks include managing the receipt, processing, and distribution of naval and civilian message traffic relevant to AUTEC operations. The position requires obtaining and maintaining a U.S. Secret Government Clearance, which mandates U.S. citizenship.
Key Responsibilities
- Expertly load classified materials using electronic devices, strictly following COMSEC protocols.
- Continuously monitor communication circuits during live test operations, taking corrective steps for any outages encountered.
- Oversee all circuits for the Automated Communications Center (ACC) during periods of ACC unstaffed time.
- Report any equipment malfunctions promptly to technical and management personnel for resolution.
- Establish and maintain radio and telephone communications, ensuring proper procedural adherence and accurate record maintenance.
- Document all daily activities, tasks, and events within the Communications Message Center in detailed official records.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent credential is mandatory.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a communications computer media environment.
- Prior military Message Center or EKMS experience is highly desirable.
- Capability to successfully complete Message Center Communications Qualification within 60 days of employment.
- Adherence to continuous training and required knowledge maintenance in administrative and limited technical areas related to the role.
- Willingness and ability to work a rotating shift schedule consisting of 12-hour shifts.
- Exhibit professional conduct consistently when interacting with customers and fellow staff members.
- Ability to follow and respect structured chain of command protocols.
- Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills are essential.
- Physical capability to occasionally lift, pull, or push weights up to 40 pounds related to office supplies and equipment.
- Regular exposure to circuit noise and intermittent alarms typical in a Message Center environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows 10 or later and MS Outlook; knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is advantageous.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills must be consistently evident.
- Eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance is required; U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite.
- Ability and willingness to live in a remote setting with limited access to medical facilities.
- Possession of a valid U.S. Passport and Drivers License is mandatory.
