Mechanical Engineer

Overview

We are looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer with extensive practical experience in industrial settings, particularly focused on Simple and Combined Cycle power plant systems and Gas Turbine Balance of Plant (BoP) components. The role requires hands-on knowledge of raw and demineralized water systems, gas and liquid fuel supply, firefighting water systems, effluent management, and associated design criteria. Detailed familiarity with multi-fuel applications such as Natural Gas, LPG, and Butane is essential, alongside expertise in technical bid assessment to identify both commercial and technical discrepancies.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze customer specifications to accurately define technical boundaries for aeroderivative plant tenders.
• Perform comprehensive cost analyses and prepare preliminary Bills of Quantities to assist competitive pricing.
• Identify technical risks early in the tender phase, providing mitigation strategies to protect project margins.
• Source and evaluate supplier offers ensuring technical compliance with standard plant models.
• Collaborate with sales teams to devise conceptual plant designs, including plot plans and 3D visual presentations for clients.
• Estimate mechanical BoQs specific to gas power plant projects.
• Lead the conceptual and detailed design of skid mechanical BoP systems including water, fuel, firefighting, and effluent subsystems.
• Produce and manage detailed mechanical specifications and BoQs for all plant subsystems.
• Issue Requests for Quotations for major mechanical and electrical BoP components and conduct technical bid evaluations.
• Prepare final project documents such as P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, piping material specs, and valve/instrument schedules.
• Oversee procurement cycles, including vendor document reviews and quotation tabulations.
• Provide onsite engineering support during installation, commissioning, and startup to ensure compliance with designs.
• Manage redlining and documentation updates for all engineering drawings through construction and commissioning phases.
• Coordinate review and approval of vendor drawings and track manufacturing progress to avoid schedule delays.
• Engage with stakeholders and contractors to address design changes, promote modular design, and ensure integrated system functioning.
• Schedule and monitor project execution to maintain on-time delivery and document quality.
• Conduct root cause analyses for mechanical non-conformance and oversee corrective measures.
• Confirm all designs conform to relevant standards such as ASME, PED, and CE Mark and meet fuel-specific requirements.
• Encourage use of AI tools for compliance and productivity checks, ensuring all outputs undergo thorough human validation.

Qualifications and Eligibility

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and demonstrate strong industrial background with gas turbines in aeroderivative, oil and gas, or power sectors. The position is open to professionals capable of managing both conceptual and detailed mechanical engineering tasks within a full-time, onsite role.
