Loader Technician - 1st Shift Rotating

About the Role

Join Starbucks as a Loader Technician and become part of our dedicated team that supports the heart of our coffee experience: the Roasting Plants. This role involves working within our roasting and packaging environment, contributing to the seamless flow and quality of green coffee operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Load green coffee into the Green Coffee Cleaning and Silo Storage systems accurately.
• Monitor and maintain the green coffee dust collection system ensuring proper function.
• Collaborate with roasting and logistics teams to meet scheduled production and delivery timelines.
• Guide and mentor new loader technicians to ensure consistent operational knowledge.
• Maintain inventory accuracy by keeping detailed records and mapping incoming product dock (IPD) for green coffee.
• Operate forklifts to transport green coffee between interim storage locations and loading platforms safely.
• Conduct troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on loading stations and silo storage areas.
• Report any conditions affecting the safety and proper operation of green coffee loading and transfer systems to maintenance partners.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols and lead by example, reinforcing safety as a core value including use of PPE and Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
• Support food safety, legality, and quality assurance programs with consistent compliance.
• Uphold product quality by following Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety Preventative Controls, and quality specifications while monitoring and documenting results.
• Perform additional tasks as necessary to support Starbucks' business goals and mission.
• Ensure punctuality and consistent attendance to maintain smooth operations.

Qualifications and Skills

• High School diploma, GED, or four years of U.S. military service.
• Minimum two years experience in production or distribution environments.
• Certification as a forklift operator or willingness to obtain certification.
• Ability to safely lift up to 150 pounds, with team lifting as needed.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• Detail oriented with strong inventory counting abilities.
• Basic math proficiency.
• Able to follow verbal instructions accurately.
• Knowledge and experience in equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Self-driven with ability to comprehend and follow written policies, guidelines, and safety standards.
• Ability to work effectively within a diverse team environment and across variable shifts.
• Familiarity with food safety standards including FDA Preventive Controls for Human Food and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) regulations.
• Preferred experience with GFSI certification schemes such as BRC or SQF.
