About the Legal, Compliance, and Public Affairs Team

This team consists of dedicated professionals from various disciplines who enable Affirm's growth and innovation by providing legal, compliance, and policy guidance. Their efforts ensure the company delivers trustworthy financial products to consumers, merchants, and partners.

About the Licensing Team

The Licensing team is responsible for managing Affirm's licensing portfolio, regulatory partnerships, and strategies across U.S. and international markets. They work closely with Legal, Compliance, Product, and business leaders to support expansion and operational scalability in regulated environments.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with launching new products and services involving state licensing and reporting, such as money transmission, lending, servicing, collections, and global expansion.
  • Coordinate across departments including legal, public affairs, compliance, finance, and tax to fulfill regulatory licensing and reporting commitments.
  • Maintain a comprehensive system repository documenting licensing workflows, regulatory guidelines, and reporting obligations for various license types.
  • Collaborate on preparing and filing state licensing annual reports, MSB call reports, and other necessary regulatory submissions.
  • Ensure punctual regulatory filings; identify and escalate licensing issues; supervise ongoing regulatory duties within licensing management systems.
  • Lead preparation and submission of renewal applications and related documents for multiple licensing jurisdictions.
  • Work jointly on NMLS licensing processes, regulatory filings, and reporting obligations.
  • Develop and implement new processes, including AI-based enhancements, to improve the efficiency of the licensing program.
  • Support research and integration of licensing requirements into the licensing management tool.
  • Liaise with senior leadership to meet continuous state licensing responsibilities.
  • Collaborate on licensing-related projects and initiatives.

Qualifications and Desired Attributes

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in licensing, compliance, or regulatory roles, preferably within consumer financial services.
  • Exceptional time management, organizational, and administrative capabilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and overlapping projects.
  • Strong project management, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Possesses humility, integrity, and a collaborative spirit to contribute effectively within a supportive, small team.
  • A curious and eager learner who takes ownership of projects.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, handling fast-paced and dynamic environments.
  • Adaptable to shifting priorities and ambiguity common in high-growth settings.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary ranges from $133,000 to $183,000 annually, depending on location, experience, and skillset. Affirm emphasizes transparent pay structures and offers a comprehensive package including monthly stipends for health, wellness, technology, and other lifestyle needs.
