Position Overview
The role of Key Account Manager (KAM) involves cultivating, expanding, and solidifying strategic relationships with key customers while boosting profitable revenues across an assigned portfolio. Acting as the main commercial liaison, the KAM will identify opportunities to broaden business scope, introduce new applications, and nurture sustained partnerships. This position requires close teamwork with Customer Service, Operations, Product Management, Engineering, and Inside Sales teams to provide excellent customer experiences and achieve growth targets. Success hinges on strong relationship-building, consultative sales strategies, and disciplined planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and implement strategic account plans to drive revenue, profitability, and increase market share within key accounts.
- Establish and maintain executive-level relationships across functional areas including engineering, operations, purchasing, and supply chain.
- Organize business reviews, customer visits, and account meetings to uncover growth opportunities and reinforce partnerships.
- Serve as the primary commercial point of contact, ensuring high customer satisfaction and retention.
- Expand account engagement through cross-selling, upselling, and launching new products.
- Identify new applications for wire cloth, filtration, fabricated, and porous media solutions, actively pursuing new business within existing and targeted accounts.
- Manage sales pipelines and deliver precise forecasts using Salesforce CRM.
- Lead commercial negotiations and support contract arrangements to ensure mutually advantageous results.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to uncover emerging prospects.
- Develop trusted advisor relationships, facilitate customer visits, technical evaluations, and problem-solving dialogues.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to execute customer programs and innovative product initiatives.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of account activities and forecasts within Salesforce.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma mandatory; bachelor's degree preferred in business, sales, marketing, engineering, or related fields.
- At least three years of successful B2B sales or account management experience within industrial manufacturing or distribution.
- Proven track record maintaining and growing strategic or high-value customer relationships.
- Strong skills in consultative selling, negotiating, and relationship development.
- Experience with account planning, opportunity management, and sales forecasting.
- Familiarity with CRM software, preferably Salesforce.
- Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and analytical problem-solving capabilities.
- Capacity for independent work and effective cross-department collaboration.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly within the assigned territory.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with sales of industrial wire cloth, filtration items, fabricated parts, engineered materials, or other industrial solutions.
- Background supporting OEMs, manufacturers, distributors, or strategic supply chain partners.
- Competence in conducting business reviews and executive-level presentations.
- Knowledge of value-based selling and methodologies in strategic account management.
- Industry experience in manufacturing, metals, filtration, or engineered product sectors.
Physical and Work Environment
- Ability to travel frequently to customer and manufacturing locations and industry events.
- Capability to operate effectively in office and industrial production settings.
- Comfort with walking manufacturing floors and customer sites occasionally.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel by automobile and air as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated annual base salary ranges from 65000 to 80000 USD, determined by experience, qualifications, location, and sales performance. Additionally, participants are eligible for an incentive plan with up to 24000 USD annually based on individual and company goals. Compensation plans are reviewed yearly and adjusted accordingly.
