Role overview
This position is an entry-level opportunity in enterprise application and database operations. It is designed for someone who wants to build hands-on expertise in SQL Server administration, Windows-based application support, monitoring, incident handling, and operational process discipline within a multinational environment.
Candidate profile
- Up to 2 years of relevant experience in IT operations, application support, or database-related work; strong internship or trainee experience is also acceptable.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including databases, schemas, user concepts, simple querying, and troubleshooting basics.
- Exposure to Windows Server environments.
- Basic familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Interest in enterprise applications and their full lifecycle, including installation, upgrades, and maintenance.
- Willingness to learn database administration and application operations.
Additional advantages
- Introductory exposure to cloud platforms, especially Azure; AWS or GCP is also considered useful.
- Awareness of monitoring platforms and system log review.
- Some understanding of ITIL concepts such as Incident, Problem, and Change management.

Key responsibilities
The role covers database administration, second-level support for business applications, monitoring and incident handling, change support, and documentation. Work is carried out according to documented procedures and under supervision where needed.
Database administration
- Set up, configure, administer, and maintain SQL Server databases across environments using available documentation.
- Carry out basic SQL Server administration activities.
- Monitor database health and perform routine performance checks.
- Learn and apply standard operating procedures for database maintenance.
- Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge base updates.
Business application operations and second-level support
- Assist with installing and upgrading enterprise applications under guidance.
- Handle routine day-to-day application support tasks.
- Investigate and resolve simpler incidents escalated from first-line support.
- Review application logs, system logs, and monitoring alerts to identify issues.
- Escalate more complex cases to senior colleagues with clear analysis and proper documentation.
- Perform Windows system administration tasks for supported applications, including user management, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Monitoring and incident management
- Track applications and databases through existing monitoring tools.
- Respond to alerts and help resolve incidents following established procedures.
- Join incident bridges for major problems in a supporting capacity.
- Build knowledge of structured root cause analysis methods.
Change, optimization, and continuous improvement
- Help implement approved changes to IT systems.
- Take part in application upgrades and migrations as a team member.
- Work in line with change management and deployment standards.
- Recommend improvements to documentation and operational workflows.
Collaboration and documentation
- Prepare and maintain technical documents, runbooks, and user guides.
- Work closely with senior business applications operations staff, infrastructure operations teams, and incident management teams.
- Communicate in a clear and professional manner with internal stakeholders.
Internal positioning of the role
This is an entry point into enterprise application and database operations. It is a learning-focused position with mentoring support and provides a foundation for future growth into roles such as IT Application Administrator, Database Administrator, or Senior Business Applications Operations specialist.
