Role Overview

We are collaborating with a prominent energy trading company to recruit a Japan Power Originator to bolster the expansion of their APAC power sector activities. The role focuses on crafting and executing complex power deals, cultivating relationships with key stakeholders like utilities, generators, retailers, and other market agents within Japan’s electricity market.

Primary Responsibilities

• Initiate and manage physical and structured power deals in the Japanese market.
• Build and maintain partnerships with utilities, independent power producers, retailers, renewable project developers, and major energy users.
• Design, negotiate, and finalize power purchase agreements, supply contracts, and custom energy transactions.
• Collaborate closely with trading and analysis teams to spot market trends and tackle risk management.
• Drive expansion of the company's footprint and network among counterparties in the Japan Electric Power Exchange and wider Japanese power industry.

Candidate Profile

• Demonstrated solid experience in Japan's power or energy sectors.
• Well-established contacts among Japanese power market participants.
• Background in power deal origination, trading, structuring, or in commercial development roles.
• Strong skills in negotiation and commercial strategy.
• Fluent communication skills in Japanese are highly advantageous.
